When does the course start and finish?
The course starts when you enroll. You have no time limit to finish your practicals from the time that you begin. However, you will always have access to all of the course material in this course.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like – across any and all devices you own.

How do I complete the theory part of the course?
All of the content of this course constitutes the theory part of the course. As soon as you have completed all of the content, watched all of the videos on needle insertion, downloaded the manuals, listed to all of the audios and looked at the photo examples, you can begin your practicals.
What does the online course cover?
We cover the theory of Chinese Medicine, point location and needling techniques, the continuum of the flow of Qi, organ systems and emotions i.e. the origin of mental and physical illnesses, treating trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, ADHD, bipolar disorder as well as physical illnesses. We the manuals also include how to start your business as well as the ideal treatment environment & sound tracks to play during the treatment session and medical waste disposal & procedures to avoid cross contamination.
How do I do the 40 hours of practicals?
Once you have finished the course online (no time limit) you must complete 40 hours of practicals (50 treatments). This you have no time limit from the time that you begin them. I supervise your practical through what is known as general supervision. I.e. after each treatment you need to take a photo of your needle insertions and email them to me. From the photos, I am able to see your needle depth and point location and advise you on any adjustments that need to take place. This is done by correcting the photos that you emailed me and sending them back to you. General supervision is an accepted practice worldwide. As you may know, surgeons worldwide learn new procedures via video conferencing. In other words, once you have completed the theory part, your practical is done at your own venue and in your own time, I do not need to be present for each insertion. NADA has trained over 30000 people in more than 40 countries over the past 40 years. The protocol is so safe that there has NEVER been a malpractice lawsuit against NADA or any of our practitioners worldwide. By the time you have completed 40 hours, (i.e. 50 treatments), your point location is good and your confidence is good too. Now you are ready for your exam.
How do I do my exam?
This is either done in person when I teach “In Person” course option students in Johannesburg. This happens on request at my training facility located at 123A Eccleston Crescent, Bryanston, Sandton, Johannesburg, or via WhatsApp video by submitting photos of the volunteers after the exam. It is a practical exam (one hour), and is not written because all of the theory is covered in the online course material. However there is a tiny verbal/oral component to it, where you will simply follow the protocol in speaking to your volunteers while giving them the treatment. You need to complete inserting the needles into all 5 people within a one hour period. However it will take you about 25 minutes.
When do I get my practitioner certificate?
As soon as you have passed your exam, you can register with Acudetox Africa. Once you have passed, you can register with Acudetox Africa here to receive your practitioner certificate. The certificate is valid for 12 months and must be renewed annually to receive your nee certificate.
Where do I get acupuncture needles from?
As soon as you have enrolled with the course, you will be sent the contact details of our supplier in Randburg Johannesburg. These are for your own expense. A box of 100 needles costs +- R85 (as of 8 Jan 2022), but the price fluctuates infrequently because of the ZAR/USD exchange rate. That’s because they are all imported. You will need to have your own courier company collect them from Aliros. The shipping of your needles etc. are also for your own expense. The other option is that you are welcome to order from any other supplier in the world if it is more cost effective. They are readily available from suppliers in the USA as well As the UK or China.
What if I have any questions that I need answered?
Enrolled students will have direct access to me via WhatsApp video & audio because they will be sent my personal mobile number. I am happy to answer your questions Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. Questions asked after hours will only be responded to during those times.
What if I miss a point, can I cause any harm?
No you can’t. It’s completely safe. In more than 40 years, in more than 40 countries with more than 30000 practitioners, neither NADA nor any practitioner has ever had a lawsuit filed against them/us.
Are there any contraindications?
The only area where we need to cautious is by avoiding doing Acudetox on pregnant women in their last trimester because it can induce a premature birth.
